This review is for the maternity part of the hospital. If I could give negative 5 stars, I would. Don't have your babies here. With all the renovations etc they should've gotten better nurses as well; they know how to act like they are nice and caring... but they're really not. While I was pregnant, I had terrible PPGP and when I delivered, the pain got even worse!! I couldn't stand on my own or walk, so I needed help with the baby. I had noone to help me but the nurses, but they didn't want to help. They would make me feel terrible for asking for much needed help by saying, "you won't have us when you get home" and "what are you doing with the baby when you get home?" Furthermore, I needed something stronger than Motrin as it wasn't doing anything for the pain and they wouldn't listen to me, like they didn't believe I was in so much pain, it took alot for them to give me something stronger. Discharge day came and I informed them that I couldnt leave until my fiance would get out of work, late in the evening..Well the only thing left for them to do was to take my bags and grab me and put me outside! That day, they wouldn't give me the pain meds... and in the morning, I called a couple of times for help and they took forever to come help. I was so uncomfortable and felt so terrible that I didn't call them to help me for the rest of the day, so I crawled to the bathroom and used the walls and tables to so I could walk and hold myself up... I almost dropped the baby when I tried to pick her up!!!! Most terrible experience EVER..I was sad and depressed for months and I truly believe this hospital is one of the main reasons! 10 months later and Im still traumatised.

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL. I wish I could give less than 1 star. My wife's doctor is affiliated with St. John's and was supposed to give birth here. In her 41st week of pregnancy (August 21nd, 2017), she started having contractions. We waiting a whole day home until she felt they were strong and consistent. At 1am, she was having them every three minutes and were really strong. We rushed there and were received by uncaring nurses (Renee being the worst). They checked her and she was already 5 and the contractions were becoming unbearable. There was no doctor on-site (what a hospital) and the nurse called the one on call to receive further instructions. They said they were going to monitor her again after she walks for 2 hours (my wife could not even get up with the pain) and that most likely we were going to be sent home because "it didn't look like she was in labor yet". We immediately left to a real hospital (Montefiore) where my wife was quickly received and gave birth a few hours later. This place should not have the privilege to be called a hospital and we can tell by the other reviews posted.

Oh my! The reviews I see here absolutely oppose my experience! I was rushed to the emergency from a different facility, received in the ER quickly and admitted to the hospital quickly as well! I went to the 5th floor! Honestly the staff up there were absolutely AMAZING!! They were sooo kind, attentive, caring, friendly! To name a few nurses and nurses assistants who stood out to me ( I don't have last names) are Jaz ( nurse), Taj ( nurse), Vincy (nurse), Ashvini (nurse), Bibi (NA), Pat (NA), Teresa (NA and she is polish and the reason I say that is because there are different Teresa's), but everyone on that floor including the administrative staff we're wonderful! I cannot say anything but amazing things about them and I hope that someone from the hospital admin sees this and recognizes them for their good work! Thank you all so so much!

Security officer Bardini was just awful, the way he speaks to ppl is just horrible, how can someone that is sick and be spoken with no Respect, he called himself the supervisor and idk how he got to that position, I was sick and embarrassed, they really need to do something with employees at the hospital, it’s suppose to be a safe haven for sick ppl, unfortunately it’s not with him working there,

Also, even the food attendants who brought up the trays were awesome!!! Helpful, attentive, the best!!!

Oh... after i had my baby i begged for hours to see her and they wouldn't bring her to me until my husband almost caused a scene.

Labor was also terrible but its labor so I could ignore some unpleasant details.. but a nurse that was trying to help me push, made my pain worse and she wouldn't listen when I would tell her she was hurting me and not helping!!!

Oh and there was a tiny white worm in my fruit cocktail..gross..

Oh and let me not forget about the girl that came in to draw my blood...talking about her boyfriend wants another baby but she doesn't know if she should give him a baby because he cheated on her and got the other girl pregnant...I am not yor friend and you are at your job..please be professional!!!

Went in for surgery was received quickly and treated gently ( this is why they got the two stars, everything else went down hill when I woke up). I had two nurses, one was very kind however she gave me food and a drink I wasn't supposed to have due to my surgery. My throat was swollen and in pain. Second nurse didn't realize I had surgery on my abdomen area and tried to get me up after two hours of in and out sleep due to being under. She wanted me to go use the restroom as I couldn't go home until that happens. I didn't have to go but that didn't stop her from taking me. She asked me after what I had done, which just shows both nurses didn't pay attention to my needs. They both seemed eager to kick me out and kept asking me if I wanted to go home to my bed. As a person healing from surgery I shouldn't be pushed into doing anything I'm not ready to do and I should be treated respectfully with my needs in mind. The second nurse realized her mistake afterwards and was then kinder. However the damage was already done, I was irritated and my throat was swollen. How are you caring for someone and you don't even know what they came in for. The only blessing was the doctors that operated on me. This hospital needs to find better help, this is unacceptable.
